Who We Are

The Team Burns Charitable Foundation ™ is a non-profit organization founded in honor of Ted Burns, who was diagnosed with an advanced form of colon cancer in late September of 2007. Though he eventually succumbed to illness a year later, he remained kind and caring, and his warm personality was the foundation for our group. The Foundation hosts charity events for the American Cancer Society (ACS) year round to help fund cancer research and advocate awareness.Ted Burns’ warm personality and longtime friendships with many in the Monroe, GA community were the inspiration for several to start up a Relay for Life (RFL) group in his honor. Within three weeks, “Team Burns” walked at RFL 2008- Walton County, raising more than $3,000 for the ACS!
Since our very first fundraiser, the Team Burns Charitable Foundation has raised more than $9,500 for the ACS to date! In addition, we have started several traditions, including the annual Blockbuster Bake Sale in Monroe, GA, percentage nights, holiday food drives, and more. Proceeds from every event goes to the ACS.

Our motto is, "Your Hope is our Strength," because we see hope in the eyes of the cancer patient. As a result, that hope gives us strength to do what we do to try and make things easier for survivors and their families. If it involves walking all night at Relay for Life (RFL) to raise money, we will do it. But we do much more than just RFL. For example, our largest annual fundraiser, the second-annual "SpringSing: Voices United for a Cure," also known as SPRINGSING WEEKEND!
